Formed in 2022, the Medics Group of ASPEXS—comprising doctors and dentists who are alumni of South Point—has grown into a close-knit community of nearly 500 healthcare professionals. United by their roots and a shared passion for service, the group has been actively contributing to various initiatives including health camps for staff, an online health advisory segment, and Basic Life Support training sessions.
On April 19, 2025, the group hosted its first Continuing Medical Education (CME) event on the grounds of their beloved alma mater. Unlike conventional CMEs that often remain siloed within specialties, this event was designed to encourage cross-disciplinary dialogue and broaden collective understanding within the medical community.
The CME featured discussions on wide-ranging topics of contemporary relevance—such as the evolving doctor-patient relationship, gender bias and its effects on women’s health, nutrition and diet in managing diabetes, the changing landscape of immunization, and global health challenges faced by women.
"It’s an extremely proud moment for the Alumni Association to organise such an event with the participation of Alumni Doctors, that too within the school campus. It’s a homecoming of sorts for these wornderful healers. We are thankful to all of them and look forward to having more such meaningful engagements in the days to come," informed Meghnath Roy Chowdhury, Hony Secretary of ASPEXS.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from specialists across multiple domains, supported by an energetic organizing team representing various fields of medicine and health sciences. Soulful musical performances during the inauguration and valedictory sessions added a warm, personal touch to the day’s proceedings.
With this successful beginning, this group hopes to set the stage for many more such interdisciplinary CMEs that foster learning, collaboration, and a deeper sense of community among healthcare professionals.
