Navratri festival of devotion and celebration is one of the awaited Hindu festivals. A nine-day celebration that is dedicated to the nine avatars of Maa Durga rooted in devotion and spirituality to commemorate Durga’s triumph over the demon Mahishasura. Navratri 2024 began on October 3 and will be observed until October 12.

Navratri is celebrated across India with rituals where devotees observe fasting, chanting, and engage themselves in the devotion of Maa Durga with the cultural activities like Garba and Dandiya. Each day of Navratri is dedicated to the form of Maa Durga symbolising different virtues, power, wealth and significance.

While the whole world is immersed in the devotion of Maa Durga, the temples are being crafted beautifully in lieu to celebrate the festival with a wholesome love, peace and prosperity. Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Kolkata

This temple located on the riverbank of Hooghly river is dedicated to Maa kali. This temple was built in 1855 which is famous for its unique architecture. During Navratri, this temple fills the atmosphere with devotional music and dance.


Kamakhya Temple, Assam

Kamakhya temple situated in Guwahati is one of the oldest temples and most revered in Shakti Peethas in India. This temple is dedicated to Maa kamakhya expression of fertility and femininity.


Chamundeshwari Temple, Mysore

This temple is perched atop of Chamundi Hill dedicated to Maa Chamundeshwari. Its history dates back to the 12th century and offers astonishing views of the whole city. This temple is a must visit during Navratri, a celebration of victory and triumph of good over evil. Beautifully decorated and the whole ambience is immersed in the devotion of chanting Maa Durga.


Mansa Devi Temple, Haridwar

Mansa Devi temple is dedicated to Maa Mansa Devi and it is believed that all the wishes of the devotees are being fulfilled here. This temple is located on the Bilwa Parvat and can be reached via a cable car or a small steep trek. The temple witness devotees in large numbers who come to offer their prayers and seek blessings


Jwala Devi Temple, Himachal Pradesh

Worshipped in the form of flames; the Jwala Devi Temple is dedicated to Maa jwala where worshipping to Maa Jwala is through eternal flames. During Navratri, the temple is adorned with flowers and lights, attracting devotees in the special aartis being performed in the honour of Maa Jwala.


Kalka Ji Temple, Delhi

The temple known for spiritual ambiance and historical significance, Kalka Ji temple during Navratri offers special prayers and rituals where the atmosphere is joyful and filled with chants and prayers.


Jhandewalan Temple, Delhi

The temple in Delhi, Jhandewalan temple dedicated to Maa Jhandewali known for the large idol of the goddess is fully decked up beautifully in view of Navratri. Special events, bhajans and aartis are being performed attracting large crowds of devotees who seek blessings.


Vaishno Devi Temple, Jammu

One of the most significant temples and recognised temples is Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu,India. This temple is dedicated to Maa Vaishno and sees an overwhelming number of devotees who actually undertake a trek to pay their love and seek blessings from Maa Vishno. The temple gets decked up with flowers and lights with special rituals in order to honour the goddess.
