PEAK Roots update: How to find and use the Book of Bones

The Roots update has introduced a wide variety of new content into PEAK, and one of the major introductions is the Book of Bones. This single-use item features a unique mechanic that can be used to revive a friend as a skeleton or transform yourself into one.
The Book of Bones is required in PEAK to unlock the Applied Esoterica Badge and get the Skeleton Top cosmetic reward. As part of the same, you will have to meet the requirement of reviving a teammate. In the section below, there is a detailed guide on how you can obtain and use the Book of Bones in PEAK.
How to find the Book of Bones in PEAK

The Book of Bones is one of the newest mystical items to be introduced to PEAK. It has a high-risk, high-return, and can be used to perform the following two functions:

• Resurrect Teammates: You can use the book on a dead teammate's skeleton to bring them back to life as a skeleton character. This provides them with a second chance, and it is ideal when traditional revival is not available.
• Self-Transformation: Alternatively, you can employ the book on yourself to transform into a skeleton.

Becoming a skeleton will grant you immunity to hunger and other survival needs. However, this comes with severe drawbacks, i.e., even minor fall damage can be deadly, and normal hazards remain deadly.
Finding the Book of Bones in PEAK requires you to have some luck while exploring the biome thoroughly. Essentially, the item spawns exclusively through random chance when opening these containers:

• Ancient Luggage: This is the primary source for finding the Book of Bones. You must search every piece of Ancient Luggage during your climbs to have a shot at finding the special item.
• Ancient Statues: Ancient Statues can also reward the Book of Bones. However, this can only happen when all players in your party are alive when opening the statue. If even one player has died, the statue will not drop mystical items.

How to get the Applied Esoterica Badge in PEAK
Earning the Applied Esoterica Badge requires you to have the Book of Bones and to be in co-op play. You can follow these steps to get the badge:

• Acquire the Book of Bones: Search Ancient Luggage and Ancient Statues to get the mystical item.
• Have a teammate die: One player must die in-game to become a skeleton on the ground. This is because the Badge requires you to resurrect a dead player.
• Use the Book of Bones: You must navigate to the skeleton of your deceased teammate. A prompt reading "[Player]'s Skeleton. (E) Revive?" will appear on your screen. Hold your interact button to use the book.

Following these steps, your teammate will be revived as a playable skeleton character. The moment resurrection completes, all team members will unlock the Applied Esoterica Badge and get the exclusive Skeleton Top cosmetic.
