NEW DELHI: CBI has named Chhattisgarh ex-CM Bhupesh Baghel in its FIR as part of its ongoing probe into Mahadev online betting app scam case.
CBI FIR states that ED had arrested a cash-courier, Asim Das, from whom Rs 5.3 crore cash was seized on Nov 3, 2023. Das allegedly told investigators that the cash was meant for Baghel. It also states that ED was able to obtain a voice note from Das's phone which was claimed to have been shared by Shubham Soni, one of the promoters of Mahadev Online Book. From the voice note, it was evident that the seized amount was meant for "one Mr. Baghel".
"As per the voice note, it was also gathered that Soni was claiming that he had also made such payments prior to this incidence as well," stated the FIR.
