JAIPUR: The court of judicial magistrate No. 11, Metropolitan-II, dismissed the complaint filed against former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for making allegedly casteist remarks against PM Narendra Modi. Presiding officer Diksha Sood stated in her order that the court neither has the jurisdiction to determine anyone's caste and gotra nor is it the right forum for this, leading to the dismissal of the complaint.
The complaint mentioned that the complainant read in a newspaper on Feb 9, 2024 that Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra had reached Chhattisgarh. During this event, Rahul had claimed that PM Modi was not from OBC category by birth, that Gujarat's BJP govt had made Modi an OBC, and that he could not do justice to the rights and shares of backward classes. The complaint alleged that such a statement by Rahul Gandhi in public was intended to incite various sections and communities of Indian citizens to commit crimes.
The complainant, Vijay Kalandar, also alleged that the statement created unrest in the country and endangered its security. He lodged a complaint with police regarding the matter, but the police did not take any action. Consequently, he filed for legal action.
