3 terrorists killed in encounter in J&K's Baramulla

NEW DELHI: Security forces on Saturday killed 3 terrorists after an overnight exchange of fire in the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials, a cordon-and-search operation was launched in the north Kashmir district's Pattan area.

The operation turned into an encounter after terrorists fired on a search party of the forces, who then retaliated, a police official said.

The identity and group affiliation of the terrorist are being ascertained as the operation was underway.

"Based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint operation was launched by Indian Army and J&K Police on the intervening night of 13-14 September in general area Chak Tapar Kreeri, Baramulla," Indian Army said.

In a separate incident, two army soldiers died while two others were injured in an ongoing encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter broke out earlier in the evening in Pingnal Dugadda forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district.
