Send Push
NEW DELHI: Haryana is set to announce its assembly election results on October 8, following a single-phase voting on October 5. Over 2 crore eligible voters and 1,031 candidates vying for 90 assembly seats, more than 20,000 polling stations were set up in the state.

The Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) is aiming for a third consecutive term, banking on its “double-engine” government, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a key figure in the campaign.

The Congress , led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Rahul Gandhi, is pushing for a comeback after nearly a decade out of power. Their campaign has focused on issues such as unemployment, agrarian distress, and law and order.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), running independently after failing to form an alliance with the Congress, has positioned itself as a potential game-changer. Led by Arvind Kejriwal, AAP is focusing on clean governance and reforms, claiming that no government can be formed in Haryana without its support.

Other key players include the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) in coalition with the Azad Samaj Party. Both are targeting regional and rural voters, with leaders like Abhay Singh Chautala (INLD) and Dushyant Chautala (JJP) seeking to influence the post-poll scenario.

The election results will decide whether the BJP retains power, Congress stages a comeback, or AAP and regional parties play kingmakers in Haryana’s political future.

Voter turnout:

Haryana voted in a single phase, recording a final voter turnout of 61.19 per cent.
