'I'm almost like an activist now': Robert Vadra appears before ED on day 2 over Haryana land deal

NEW DELHI: Businessman Robert Vadra appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday for the second consecutive day of questioning in connection with the Haryana land deal case.

Upon arrival at the ED office, Vadra criticised what he called the misuse of central agencies and claimed he had become a "voice of the people."

"It's unfortunate that people have lost faith in these agencies, which are being used to pressure those who expose government wrongdoings," Vadra told news agency PTI. He further alleged that the government was attempting to create religious divisions to deflect attention from crucial issues.

“They can see I have become the voice of the people. I’m almost like an activist now. This happened because I respond to the government and continue to fight back against the constant false accusations made against me. The people are with me; I serve them. People would like to see me in politics,” he added.

On Wednesday's questioning, Vadra said he was "too strong for all this."

In a Facebook post, he wrote, "I'm here for any kind of unjust pressure. I believe in the truth, and truth will prevail." He also alleged that his charitable activities during his birthday week had been disrupted. In a veiled criticism of the government, he said, "Nothing is going to deter me from fulfilling people's wishes and needs." He added that he would continue helping people unless stopped from speaking out against "injustice" towards minorities.

Meanwhile, outside the ED office, Congress supporters raised slogans such as, "Jab jab Modi darta hai, ED ko aage karta hai," accusing the Modi government of misusing the agency to silence opposition voices.
