'Liquor scam involved BJP members, they took Rs 60 crore bribe through electoral bonds': AAP's Sanjay Singh

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh launched a blistering attack on the central government, accusing the BJP members of accepting a bribe of Rs 60 crore from Sarath Reddy through electoral bonds in connection with the alleged liquor scam . The AAP leader further alleged that the investigation agencies are being miused by the ruling party, and opposition leaders are being put in jail without evidence.

"The so-called liquor scam was made an issue. This liquor scam involved BJP members who took a bribe of Rs 60 crore from Sarath Reddy through electoral bonds," the AAP leader added.

He cited examples of opposition leaders from Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar who were jailed without evidence.

"In Maharashtra, Anil Deshmukh had to stay in jail for 14 months, and later the court said there was no evidence, so he got bail. Sanjay Raut was kept in jail for 103 days, no evidence was found, and he got bail. I was kept in jail for 6 months, and the Supreme Court granted me bail. Three ministers from Bengal are in jail. Recently, the chief minister of Jharkhand got bail. In Bihar and Maharashtra, investigation agencies are being misused," Sanjay Singh said.

Opposition MPs protest in Parliament premises against Centre's 'misuse' of ED, CBI

On Monday, opposition party members protested on the Parliament premises against the central government's alleged misuse of central agencies like the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Opposition MPs, including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress members Shashi Tharoor, KC Venugopal, Manish Tewari, K Suresh, Varsha Gaikwad, Benny Behnan, and Anto Antony, participated in the protest. They were joined by Jose K Mani from Kerala Congress (M), Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha from Aam Aadmi Party, TMC MP Sagarika Ghosh, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, and CPI(M)'s John Brittas, among others.
