NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday alleged that the main accused in the Delhi drug bust where cocaine worth over Rs 6500 was seized, has connections with the Congress.

The party said that Tushar Goyal was one of the key conspirators of the cartel and served as the chief of the RTI cell of the Indian Youth Congress .

The saffron party said that Rahul Gandhi 's 'mohabbat ki dukan' (shop of love) where earlier, only items of hatred were available is now selling intoxicants as well. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi posed three questions to the Congress and asked if the grand old party had used the recovery for election purposes.

"The main accused and kingpin in the drug syndicate, Tushar Goyal is the chief of Indian Youth Congress RTI Cell...What relations does the Congress party have with him (Tushar Goyal)," Trivedi questioned during a press conference.

Trivedi said that during the tenure of the UPA government drugs only worth Rs 768 crore were recovered, while on the other hand, under the saffron party's government has seized drugs worth Rs 22,000 crore. The BJP MP during his press conference showed images of Tushar Goyal who he alleged was the kingpin with former Haryana chief minister Deepender Hooda and Congress general secretary KC Venugopal.

"The BJP government from 2014-2022 has seized drugs worth Rs 22,000 crore. The main accused and kingpin in the drug syndicate, Tushar Goyal is the chief of Indian Youth Congress RTI Cell...What relations does the Congress party have with him (Tushar Goyal)?... Was this money being used in elections by the Congress party?" he questioned.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya also echoed Trivedi's claims and said that Rahul Gandhi must explain Congress's "involvement with the drug cartel." Malviya

Trivedi also posed three questions to the Congress:
  • This money that has been recovered, this money is of the involvement of a Congress party official in drug smuggling. So has other money also come before this? The Congress party should answer this.
  • Was this money being used for the election process, for what purpose was the 5600 crore rupees and what is its connection with the Congress party?
  • Did the Congress party make a drug peddler an official of its party, this doubt arises whether there is any kind of arrangement? We want to ask clearly that if their government comes to power in Haryana, would this type of drug mafia get the same kind of freedom to operate in the state.

  • The Delhi Police on Wednesday had conducted one of the largest drug busts in the city’s history, seizing more than 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana, valued at approximately Rs 6,500 crore. Officials reported that a team from the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested four individuals in Mahipalpur, South Delhi, and confiscated a total consignment weighing over 602 kilograms.
