NEW DELHI: For the third consecutive day, Pakistan launched drone incursions into Indian airspace on Friday, targeting key locations across Rajasthan, including Pokhran in Jaisalmer and Barmer.
Drones launched by Pakistan were detected across border states, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. This was immediately tackled by Indian defence forces.
In Jaisalmer, multiple aerial threats were intercepted for a second night in a row, leading to the imposition of a red alert and widespread blackouts in several districts, causing alarm among local residents.
India's air defence systems successfully destroyed the incoming drones mid-air, according to PTI quoting official sources. Sirens blared in Pokhran immediately after the attempted strikes, followed by an emergency blackout.
Pokhran, known as a site where India conducted its nuclear tests.
A planned midnight blackout in Jodhpur was also advanced in response to the situation.
Blackout protocols were simultaneously enforced in Barmer, Sriganganagar, and Phalodi.
On Thursday, Pakistan was alleged to have targeted five Indian military bases in Rajasthan.
This came amid continuously evolving situation between India and Pakistan. The Indian forces, on alert, responding back Pakistan's misadventure, under its ongoing ' Operation Sindoor .'
