PM Modi inaugurates projects worth Rs 24,000 crore including locomotive manufacturing plant in Gujarat's Dahod

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth approximately Rs 24,000 crore in Dahod, Gujarat. He also dedicated a locomotive manufacturing plant to the nation and flagged off an electric locomotive.

The initiatives include several railway projects as well as key undertakings by the government of Gujarat. He also flagged off the Vande Bharat Express between Veraval and Ahmedabad, along with a new express train connecting Valsad and Dahod. Additionally, the locomotive plant "will produce electric locomotives of 9000 HP for domestic purposes and for export."


Earlier in the day, he held a roadshow from Vadodara airport to the Air Force station, drawing enthusiastic crowds along the route. Crowds lined both sides of the road to congratulate him on the success of India’s ‘ Operation Sindoor ’ against Pakistan. He is on a two-day visit to the state.

Family members of Indian Army officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi attended the roadshow to welcome the prime minister.


Later in the day, PM Modi is set to travel to Bhuj and inaugurate several development projects worth over Rs 53,400 crore.

This comes as a part of PM's participation in the celebrations of 20 years of Gujarat Urban Growth Story.

"Urban Development Year 2005 in Gujarat was a flagship initiative launched by the then Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi with the aim of transforming Gujarat’s urban landscape through planned infrastructure, better governance, and improved quality of life for urban residents. Marking 20 years of the Urban Development Year 2005, Prime Minister will launch the Urban Development Year 2025, Gujarat’s urban development plan and State Clean Air Programme in Gandhinagar," an official press statement said.

BJP's unbroken stint at Centre for the three consecutive terms began in 2014 with the saffron party securing majority. It retained its government in 2019 and 2024.
