NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Wednesday granted three-month furlough to Sukhdev Pehalwan , convicted in the Nitish Katara murder case , after noting that he had already spent 20 years in jail against his sentence of life imprisonment for 20 years without remission.
As the legal issue is still pending before the SC on whether a prisoner, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a fixed jail term, would still need remission by the govt to come out of jail after completing the sentence, a bench of Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and K Vinod Chandran granted him interim relief to come out of prison.
