SASARAM: A sub-inspector and two chowkidars were suspended on Sunday for consuming liquor on duty at Sonhan police station in Bihar 's Kaimur district late Saturday evening. A breath analyser test confirmed they had consumed alcohol, a senior police officer said.

"They were produced before a designated court on Sunday and a departmental proceeding was initiated against the sub-inspector for further action. Stern action will be taken against them. Urine and blood samples of the trio have also been sent for laboratory test," said Lalit Mohan Sharma, SP, Kaimur.

Sharma said following a complaint by locals that a liquor party was going on at the police station, an SIT led by Bhabhua SHO Mukesh Kumar was formed and directed to conduct a raid immediately. The SIT caught drunk four persons, including a local, the SP said.

"They have been identified as SI Rajeev Ranjan, Chandra Jeet and Amarendra Kumar, chowkidars posted at two villages, and Sonu Kumar, a villager. The SI and chowkidars have been put under suspension," the SP added.
