NEW DELHI: In a major security breach of the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah , an unidentified man tried to step onto the stage where chief minister was sitting during a Democracy Day event in Bengaluru on Sunday.
The incident, captured on video, shows a young man running toward the CM before being stopped by security personnel.
The man, later identified as Mahadev Nayak , was detained for violating security protocols. According to reports, Nayak intended to garland the CM with a shawl, but his sudden approach raised alarm.
"A person named Mahadev Nayak has been taken into Custody after he tried to garland shawl to CM Siddaramaiah. He had a legitimate pass and proper identities. But since he tried to garland CM. This was a breach. He has been detained as per procedures," a police official said.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remained on stage during the incident, unharmed, while the man was taken into custody for questioning.
