Actor Alec Baldwin said the country is in a pre-civil war culture right now under the administration of President Donald Trump. His comment came as he said he picked up his remote and randomly ended up watching Ken Burns' "famous, famous miniseries". As he asked everyone to watch Civil War, he said the present situation is also the same.

MAGA supporters and conservative commentators called him a 'cringe idiot' as he came down on Trump without naming the president. “I look at the politics of it, of where people are in this country today in the division and how they're holding fast, and no one's going to falter, no one's going to break or compromise. And it's bad.”

“In order for us to get anywhere, it doesn't seem likely right now. And watching this show really reminded me of how we are in a very similar state now in a pre-Civil War culture, in a pre-Civil War environment. It's hard to believe.”

"The actor took a break from being bossed around by his wife to make the public service announcement," one comment read.

"Cringe idiot status on full display," another reacted.

Recently, Baldwin was in the news as he was seen being cut by his wife Hilaria Baldwin in viral videos. Republicans rejoiced at his public schooling by his wife.

Alec Baldwin became widely recognized for his portrayal of Trump on Saturday Night Live (SNL) starting in 2016, just ahead of the US presidential election. His exaggerated impression—complete with a signature pout, blonde wig, and bombastic delivery—turned him into a cultural symbol of resistance to Trump’s presidency, earning him an Emmy in 2017. This role didn’t just revive Baldwin’s comedy career; it also made him a lightning rod for Trump’s ire.

Baldwin recently claimed that Melania Trump secretly enjoyed his impression of Donald Trump.
