The meeting comes amid heightened security alerts across major Indian cities following the explosion, which left several injured and is currently under investigation by national agencies.

He commended India’s handling of the investigation, saying authorities were “doing a great job” in pursuing leads and would share findings once confirmed. Rubio reaffirmed the United States’ support for India while acknowledging the country’s capability to conduct a thorough probe.

Speaking to the media, Rubio said, "The Indians need to be commended. They've been very measured, cautious and very professional in how they're carrying out this investigation. That investigation continues. It clearly was a terrorist attack, and was a car loaded with highly explosive materials that detonated and killed a lot of people." He further praised India's response to the incident and said, "I think they are doing a great job of carrying out an investigation and when they have facts, they'll release those facts."

Rubio noted that the two sides also discussed the potential wider implications of the blast for regional security but agreed to await the investigation’s final report. He also reaffirmed the United States’ support for India while acknowledging the country’s capability to conduct a thorough probe.

"We spoke about it a little bit today, and the potential that it had to become something broader. But I think we are gonna wait to see what the investigation reveals," he said, "we've offered to help, but I think they are very capable on this investigation; they don't need our help, and they are doing a good job."

EAM S Jaishankar and secretary Marco Rubio met during bilateral talks on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers in Niagara, Canada. The EAM shared that during the meeting, Marco Rubio expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the attack. "Good to meet secretary Marco Rubio this morning at G7 FMM. Appreciate his condolences on the loss of lives in the blast in Delhi," the foreign minister wrote in a post on X.

The deadly blast that happened near the Red Fort in the evening of November 10 killed at least 12 people while injuring several others. The probe has come to reveal a "white-collar terror network" while further investigation is still under way.
