Elon Musk , who lost billions in the market crash triggered by Donald Trump's tariff, mostly maintained silence on the issue, but on Saturday, he did not mince his words for Trump's close economic adviser Peter Navarro. Navarro was in favor of strict tariffs though the White House confirmed that President Trump himself took the final call on tariffs. It was his call to impose a 34 per cent tariff on China to which China has now reacted with the same amount of counter-tariff. Tesla relies on imported parts from China and hence it is not good news for Musk who is already fighting global resistance against him and his company.
Does Elon think Trump tariffs are 'disaster'?
"A PhD in Econ from Harvard is a bad thing, not a good thing. Results in the ego/brains>>1 problem," Elon Musk wrote reacting to a video of Navarro explaining the tariffs on CNN.
Then Elon Musk continued on that path as he wrote 'Yup' to a post that had a quote: "In every disaster throughout American history, there always seems to be a man from Harvard in the middle of it."
In that same post, one person defended Navarro and said he's 100 per cent correct. "He ain't build s**t," Elon Must wrote.
Navarro is not the only Harvard person behind the tariff. Council of Economic Advisers chair Stephen Mira is also a Harvard PhD in economics.
Elon Musk is apparently taking a step back from his involvement in the government but the Trump administration asserted that there is nothing unusual about this as Elon Musk has several companies to handle and he is working as a special government employee for DOGE-- with a tenure of around 130 days which will come to an end in a few weeks. Donald Trump in his latest statement on Elon Musk said he would like to have Elon in his present role as long as possible but eventually Elon would go back to his business.
