'Every voice matters': Prince Harry and Meghan Markle release statement ahead of US election

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have issued a statement urging Americans to register to vote in the upcoming US presidential election.

The message was shared on the website of their charitable organisation, The Archewell Foundation , in honour of National Voter Registration Day.

In their statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex emphasised the importance of civic engagement and encouraged people to volunteer with Vote Forward , an organisation that helps mobilise voters through personalised letters.

"Voting is not just a right; it’s a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities," the couple said. They highlighted the role of voting in shaping a more just and equitable world and invited people to participate in their efforts by registering to vote through Vote.gov.

While the couple refrained from endorsing any political candidates, they inforced their message that "every voice matters" and urged all eligible voters to be informed and active in the election process.

This is not the first time the couple has spoken on the importance of voting. In the 2020 presidential election, they similarly encouraged voters to reject hate speech, though they did not name specific candidates.
