The White House on Friday shared a tribute video for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed earlier this week in Utah.
The post was captioned, “In loving memory of Charlie Kirk, a fearless patriot and man of unwavering faith who dedicated his life to America. ‘It’s bigger than you, I want you to remember that… It’s bigger than me – you are here to make somebody else’s life better, the pursuit of liberty and freedom.’”
The video played clips of Kirk along with audio from his earlier speeches. He said, “Only in America is it possible to say, you know what, I don’t like the way the country is going, and to do something about it. Take that risk, take that leap of faith, stay involved, trust God, and act obediently.”
He said that God uses all things for good for those who love him. He added, “It’s bigger than you. I want you to remember, it is bigger than you. It’s bigger than me. You are here to make somebody else’s life better, the pursuit of liberty and freedom.”
Kirk spoke about drawing strength from the “hundreds of thousands” who supported him. "You are here to make somebody else's life better, the pursuit of liberty and freedom. You know what gives me strength? The hundreds of thousands of you that say, Charlie, keep going.
He also pointed to what he called “evidence” of Jesus Christ. "So that's all pretty amazing evidence, not just intra-biblical evidence, but extra-biblical evidence that Jesus Christ was a real person. He lived a perfect life. He was crucified, died, and rose on the third day, and he is Lord and God of all.
Kirk was shot on Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University in what officials called a targeted attack. He later died in the hospital.
Authorities said 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, from Utah, has been arrested in connection with the killing.
