As the US presidential race enters its final phase, former President Barack Obama took the campaign trail to Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday. Obama shared the stage with iconic rapper Eminem to endorse Democratic party nominee and US vice president Kamala Harris .

The event aimed to galvanize support for Harris in the crucial swing state while targeting her opponent, Donald Trump .

Obama accused Trump of staging his McDonalds stint by contrasting Harris’s middle-class upbringing and her genuine experience of working at McDonald’s with Trump's staged appearance.

“Kamala Harris is somebody who was raised in the middle class,” Obama told the crowd. “She worked at McDonald's in college to pay her expenses. She didn’t pretend to work there when it was closed,” he added.

Obama emphasised Harris’s preparedness for the presidency, saying she embodies the values that built America. "This is somebody who believes in the values that built this country, and she is as prepared as any nominee for US President has ever been. That's who Kamala is," he said.

Singer and rapper Eminem is a Detroit native and a longtime critic of former President Trump, he made a rare public appearance to endorse Harris and rally the city's voters. The rapper has frequently spoken out against Trump, and his presence added cultural weight to the event.
