NEW DELHI: In a decisive blow against terrorism, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir demolished the houses of two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists involved in the brutal Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The explosive incident took place late Thursday night in Anantnag and Awantipora districts, targeting the residences of Adil Hussain Thokar and Asif Shaikh.
According to official sources, the blast occurred while security forces were conducting a thorough search operation. Explosives, allegedly pre-placed inside the homes, detonated unexpectedly, leading to complete structural devastation. No injuries to personnel were reported.
Adil Thokar Trained in Pakistan, Played Key Role in Attack LogisticsInvestigators have confirmed that Adil Thokar, a local from Jammu and Kashmir, traveled legally to Pakistan in 2018 via the Attari-Wagah border. Intelligence agencies believe he underwent advanced terror training before covertly returning to the Union Territory in 2024. Upon his return, Thokar allegedly acted as a guide and logistics facilitator for Pakistani terrorists involved in the April 22 Baisaran massacre.
Thokar is now among the top targets of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, which has announced a ₹20 lakh reward for credible information leading to the arrest of Thokar and his accomplices — Ali Bhai and Hashim Musa.
April 22 Pahalgam Attack: Deadliest Since Article 370 RevocationThe devastating attack at Baisaran Meadow, just seven kilometers from the Pahalgam tourist resort, unfolded at around 1:30 PM on April 22. Six terrorists disguised in Indian Army uniforms reportedly opened fire on tourists after forcing them to reveal their religious identities. The massacre claimed 26 lives, mostly those of tourists, marking it as the deadliest terror incident since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
Eyewitnesses revealed the terrorists used Islamic code names — Moosa, Yunus, and Asif — during the attack. Despite existing security protocols and armed patrols, the perpetrators managed to bypass checkpoints and carry out the execution-style assault in broad daylight.
Manhunt Intensifies as Officials Vow JusticeSecurity forces have since launched an intensive manhunt across South Kashmir, deploying surveillance drones, intelligence units, and rapid-response teams. Authorities have vowed that those responsible for this horrific act of terror will face the full force of justice.
As public outrage grows, the demolition of Thokar’s and Shaikh’s homes sends a strong message: terrorism will find no sanctuary in the Union Territory.
