Virat Kohli Finishes Above Ravindra Jadeja In ICC T20 All-Rounder Rankings: Here's The Inside Scoop

Send Push
In a fitting conclusion to his T20 International cricket career, Virat Kohli delivered a masterful performance in the T20 World Cup final , solidifying his status as a World Champion. Despite an otherwise underwhelming tournament, the 35-year-old cricket legend rose to the occasion, adding a triumphant chapter to his T20I legacy. Kohli's exceptional play in the final propelled him seven spots up to 40th in the ICC T20 batting rankings , a significant jump from being outside the top 50 just a month earlier.

Cricket enthusiasts were also astonished to see Kohli climb the ICC T20 all-rounder rankings , surpassing Ravindra Jadeja , who also announced his retirement from T20I cricket after the final. In the latest ICC rankings, Kohli secured the 79th spot with 49 points, while Jadeja was ranked 86th with 45 points. This ascent was unexpected, considering Kohli has been primarily known for his batting, having bowled only 2.4 overs in the past decade and taking just one wicket in his 125-match T20I career.

The T20I rankings tend to be more volatile than those of Test and ODI formats, partly due to the greater participation of players from associate nations. Kohli, with four wickets in 13 T20I innings at an average of 51.00 and an economy rate of 8.05, falls short of Jadeja’s 54 wickets in 71 innings at an average of nearly 30. Nonetheless, Kohli's remarkable batting statistics—over 4000 runs at an average of 48.69—enhance his all-rounder ranking, while Jadeja has amassed just over 500 runs in 41 innings. The T20 rankings allow players to retain their positions if they do not bowl for a while, aiding Kohli in maintaining his spot in the top 100 ICC T20 all-rounder rankings.

On the other hand, Jadeja's recent difficulties with both bat and ball caused a significant drop in his rankings. He fell out of the top 100 ICC T20 bowlers after securing just one wicket in the 2024 T20 World Cup, marking a challenging end to his T20I career.
