YouTube Launches Stable Volume Feature On Android TV And Google TV

Send Push
YouTube has begun rolling out a new ' Stable Volume ' feature for its apps on Android TV and Google TV devices. Initially introduced in the YouTube mobile app in 2023, this feature aims to address the issue of fluctuating volume levels in videos, enhancing the overall audio experience for users .

According to 9To5Google, the Stable Volume feature automatically adjusts video volume, eliminating the need for users to constantly reach for their remotes to adjust sound levels during different scenes, such as conversations or action sequences on their Android TV.

Google states that the new feature will be enabled by default on TV devices. Stable Volume continuously balances the range between quiet and loud sounds, reducing variations to provide a smoother listening experience.

For users who prefer manual control over volume adjustments, the feature can easily be turned off via the settings tab. The Stable Volume tab was spotted on Android TV and Google TV devices running the latest YouTube version 4.40.303.

HOW TO CONTROL VOLUME FOR YOUTUBE ON TV
Users can access the Stable Volume feature by tapping the gear icon during video playback, which will prompt the Stable Volume toggle on the screen. This feature is particularly useful for casual listening on YouTube, especially for podcasts or videos where consistent sound is not always guaranteed.

However, it may not be as beneficial for music listening due to the lack of a dedicated YouTube Music app for Android TV. Despite this, the toggle remains available when playing music on YouTube.

Recently, YouTube has been actively releasing new features to improve user experience. One such development is the 'Sleep Timer' for its Android app, discovered during an APK teardown of a beta version (19.25.33). This upcoming feature includes options to start, reset, and set the duration of a sleep timer.
