Commentary
  • Right then, that's all from the opening game of the 2024 Netherlands T20I Tri-Series where the Netherlands came out on top in clinical fashion. Next up on Sunday, the 19th of May, the Netherlands will be in action again as Scott Edwards and Co. take on Paul Stirling-led Ireland. The Dutch will be aiming to make it two wins in a row, while the Irish will be looking to get off to a winning start. The game will commence at 8.30 pm IST (3 pm GMT), but as always, our build-up will begin much sooner. See you then. Cheers!
  • Vivian Kingma is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his stellar four-wicket haul, paving the way for a comfortable Dutch win.
  • Time for the presentation ceremony...
  • Earlier in the game, after being inserted into bat, the Netherlands got off to a brisk start. Michael Levitt took his chances and ensured a favourable Powerplay for his side. Max O'Dowd had a scratchy stay at the crease, as did Scott Edwards and both were dismissed in successive overs. Vikramjit Singh then breathed life into the Dutch innings by taking the attack to the opposition. However, after Vikramjit fell for 39, the Netherlands struggled to finish strongly. Despite Teja Nidamanuru's efforts, the Netherlands had to settle for 167. For Scotland, Gavin Main was the most economical bowler and had two wickets to show for his efforts.
  • In their pursuit of 168 runs, Scotland were rocked early, losing their top three within the first four overs to some quality seam bowling. Matthew Cross and Richie Berrington then got together and kept the scoreboard ticking with ones and twos. As the required run rate climbed to 11, Berrington felt the need to accelerate but perished in the attempt. From there, Cross kept running out of partners, making it increasingly difficult to keep up with the required rate. Cross was eventually dismissed for 49 and went with him the hopes of Scotland. In the end, Scotland succumbed to a defeat by 41 runs.
  • Netherlands get the job done through a masterful bowling effort! The Dutch have outclassed Scotland and kicked off their final leg of the T20 World Cup preparations with a clinical win. Given that they had not that big a total, wickets in the Powerplay were crucial for Scott Edwards and Co. It went just according to the plan for them as Vivian Kingma and Logan van Beek blew away the Scottish top order. Just as the partnership between Matthew Cross and Richie Berrington was threatening to explode, the debutant, Daniel Doram helped his side open one end up by removing Berrington. After getting that opening, the Dutch bowlers never looked back and produced a collective effort to clean up the rest of the Scottish batting unit. Vivian Kingma was the pick of the bowlers for the Netherlands with four wickets while Logan van Beek had three wickets to his name.
