Send Push

Fans of Indian shooter and Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker have come down heavily on cyber-trolls for mocking the ace shooter for a photo of her at a temple in Punjab. The photo of the 22-year-old athlete wearing a simple salwar-kameez and head covered with dupatta in the premises of Devi Talab Temple in Punjab’s Jalandhar was posted by one of the social media users, and in no time the photo went viral on social media and was shared by multiple users. While the larger section appreciated the simplicity of Bhaker, a set of social media users started criticising the Olympic medal winner, claiming that this is one of the “rare” photos posted by her in recent times where she is not “flaunting” her bronze medal. “Rare image: Manu Bhaker without her bronze medal,” read a post on X, formerly Twitter, which included a reshare of the image.

Another random troll remarked, “Finally sister decided to give them rest haha”.“Where is her Bronze Medal??” exclaimed another. This, however, backfired for the troll when the larger janata hit out at them. One of the user said, “Atleast she has a bronze to show.. You don't have anything... So stop crying…”Another said, “Sorry man. Let her bask in her glory for the entire year. She will have to keep showing her medals for a significant time till it gets imprinted in the mind of every Indian. Only then will the people realise the value of her medalSimilar takes appeared when Muffadal Vohra, a cricket enthusiast and sports chronicler, originally posted Bhaker’s picture.“Manu bhaker looks good without a medal also,” read a comment.Manu Bhaker won the bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event at Paris Olympics 2024 and created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal. The Indian shooter visited Amritsar on Saturday where she visited the Golden Temple and other religious places."This was my first visit to the Golden Temple and it felt very nice... I would like to tell the youth that if you set a target, give in your all to achieve it. God will be with you and you will achieve what you desire," Bhaker told media.
